So I think minecraft went through a recent update on ps4. My boys play it all the time. And they used to play split screen with out us having to make another PS+ account. They would just play as a unsigned-in guest. Now with the new update it says split screen for “online” play requires another account log in. . .

I don’t know my way around Ps4, but on Xbox 360 it requires a guest account, which is basically your name plus a 1 on it. Xbox One allows Xbox Live to share on the entire console for all accounts. So a possible solution for you is to see if there is a share option for PS+ or a guest account option. I hope this helps you in some way!
